6 Days Mardi Himal Trek Overview
The 6 Days Mardi Himal Trek is a short and rewarding Himalayan adventure in Nepal’s Annapurna region. This trek is ideal for travelers who want to experience spectacular mountain scenery, peaceful forests, traditional villages, and high-altitude landscapes without committing to a long trekking holiday. The route takes you from the lively city of Kathmandu to Pokhara and then into the quieter trails leading toward Mardi Himal Base Camp.
The journey begins with a scenic tourist bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Nepal’s famous lakeside tourism city. Pokhara sits at around 822 meters and is surrounded by spectacular Himalayan scenery, including the Annapurna range. It is also an important starting point for trekking in the Annapurna region.
From Pokhara, you drive to Kande, the starting point of the trekking section. The trail gradually climbs through peaceful villages, terraced farmland, and beautiful rhododendron and oak forests before reaching Forest Camp. This part of the Mardi Himal Trek is especially enjoyable for travelers who prefer quieter trails and a close connection with nature.
The trek then continues from Forest Camp toward High Camp, where the landscape changes dramatically. As you gain altitude, the dense forests become thinner and the trail opens onto a spectacular mountain ridge. From here, you can enjoy increasingly clear views of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Mardi Himal, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli. The combination of mountain views and peaceful surroundings makes the 6 Days Mardi Himal Trek one of the attractive short treks in the Annapurna region.
The major highlight is the hike from High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp, reaching approximately 4,500 meters. The trail follows the high ridge and provides impressive views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After spending time at the viewpoint and enjoying photographs of the mountains, you return toward Low Camp for an overnight stay. The Base Camp day is the most demanding part of the trek, so a steady pace, proper hydration, and regular breaks are important.
On the final trekking day, you descend toward Siding or Kande, depending on trail and transportation conditions, before continuing by vehicle to Pokhara. The descent brings you back through greener landscapes and traditional rural surroundings. You then spend the evening in Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu by tourist bus on the final day.
Overall, the 6 Days Mardi Himal Trek combines the best features of a short Nepal trekking holiday: spectacular Himalayan views, rhododendron forests, peaceful mountain trails, local villages, teahouse hospitality, and the unforgettable experience of reaching the high ridges below Mardi Himal. It is a great option for travelers looking for a short Annapurna trek from Kathmandu with plenty of mountain scenery and adventure.
